The SSAE 16 guidebook supersedes the SAS 70 guidebook, a previous set of guidelines set forth by the AICPA. SSAE 16 Type II reports contain the CPA’s opinion on fairness of presentation of the description, suitability of design, and the operating effectiveness of controls. A Service Auditor’s examination is widely respected because it demonstrates that a service organization has been through an in-depth audit of their control activities, which generally includes controls over information technology, security, and supporting infrastructure.
